This Sample Episode was produced using interviews and content found on the internet. The episode is meant to give potential supporters of this project an idea of the style of podcast we hope to produce. We do not all of this material.
For some time now, I’ve been researching the classic Latin-American superhero from the 1960s known as Kaliman – El Hombre Increible (The Incredible Man). I took an interest into the character after being introduced to the "historietas" (“comic books” in Latin-America), radionovela (radio-series), and films by father, who grew up in Guatemala during the dreadful Civil War that lasted 35 years. The stories of his childhood and our fanboy parallels inspired me to produce a podcast about this very topic.
Kalimán, the Incredible Man is one of best known superheroes ever created in Latin America (though curiously, the character himself isn't Latino). Originally a Radio Show from the 1960s, it was adapted into a comic book series that lasted until the 1980s, as well as two live-action movies during the '70s.
My name is Brian Aguilar. I'm an independent content creator and future podcast developer/producer. This project is special to me because it gives me the opportunity to learn more about my father’s childhood by exploring a world of fantasy and entertainment that juxtaposes the harsh and dangerous reality of a civil war.
